In the past years working at traditional clinics, I have come to recognize a need in the local area for housecall services. Much of this may stem from my interest in geriatrics and acupuncture. Many elderly patients have difficulty getting in and out of cars, walking on slippery floors, etc. Perhaps their owners may have difficulties getting to the clinic.
Some pets become very fearful in the hospital. Blood pressure, blood glucose, and even temperatures can be elevated by this stress. Housecalls can be very useful for these animals.
For those of you who use a traditional animal hospital, I'd like to recommend you take your pet by just to get a cookie or be weighed. This may help your animal be less stressed! They'll discover going to the vet is ok and doesn't always involve a shot or blooddraw. At most clinics, the best time to do this is at the quiet times (1-3pm).
Working outside the traditional clinic should allow more time for appointments. This is especially important if you are interested in integrating acupuncture or traditional chinese in to your pet's health care.
Initial acupuncture appointments will take at least one hour. Please take the time to fill out the Acupuncture Form which you can email me or fax back to me (978 462 1887) prior to your appointment. I also work part-time at Carr Island Animal Hospital in Newburyport. 978-462-7101
